How to divide jasmine into pots and plants

When to divide jasmine into pots

Jasmine can be repotted in all seasons. Generally speaking, it is best to repot in April or May every spring, that is, before the new shoots of jasmine sprout. You can also repot in July, as long as the roots are not damaged.

The correct way to divide jasmine into pots

Gently take out : Before repotting the jasmine, be sure to water it thoroughly. Wait 1-2 days before repotting. First, gently take the plant out of the original pot, then shake off the old soil around it. Do not damage the root system, otherwise it will affect the later growth of the plant.

Pay attention to pruning : cut off the old and rotten roots on the plant, leaving only the new root system. In addition to the roots, also trim the leaves above to reduce water evaporation and promote faster recovery of the plant.

Fill tightly : Straighten the plant and plant it into the prepared potting soil, then fill it with other loam. After filling, press the loam tightly to ensure that the roots can fit tightly with the soil.

Watering after planting : After planting, be sure to water it, and water it thoroughly. The amount of water cannot be too little, and at least ensure that the water can flow out from the holes below.

Things to note when dividing jasmine plants

1. When dividing jasmine, be careful not to damage its roots, and try to keep the fibrous roots of the jasmine.

2. After the jasmine is divided into pots, it cannot be exposed to the sun directly. It needs to be placed in a ventilated place and has sufficient scattered light. It needs to be maintained for about 3-5 days, and then placed in the sun for management.

3. The soil used for jasmine potting should be loose and breathable. Sandy soil can be used. It should also have good drainage, sufficient nutrition, rich humus, and acidic. When preparing the soil, sandy soil, humus soil, and peat soil can be mixed in a ratio of 1:1:2, and a small amount of organic fertilizer should be added as base fertilizer.

4. If jasmine wilts after being repotted, it may be because the soil is relatively dry. You should water it thoroughly. If it is exposed to light immediately after repotting, you need to place it in a semi-shaded place. The leaves will wilt before it has adapted to the pot, so just take care of it normally and wait for it to adapt to the pot.
