Lettuce seed germination method Simple lettuce seed germination method

Lettuce has a short growth cycle and high edible value. It is a very popular vegetable. When sowing lettuce, in order to ensure the germination rate, the lettuce seeds need to be germinated. The lettuce sown after germinated seeding not only has uniform and strong seedlings, but also grows faster and grows vigorously.

Lettuce seed germination time

Different varieties of lettuce have different growing conditions. Some lettuces can be sown all year round, but generally speaking, lettuce prefers a warm and cool environment and is usually sown in spring and autumn. Therefore, the lettuce seeds need to be germinated before sowing, usually in February-April and late August in autumn.

Lettuce Seed Germination Technology

1. Soak the selected lettuce seeds in water at 25-30℃ for 7-8 hours, take them out and drain the water, put them in a container, move them to an environment of 15-20℃, keep them well ventilated, and wait until most of the seeds turn white before sowing.

2. You can also use plant hormones to germinate lettuce seeds. Soak the lettuce seeds in a certain concentration of cytokine solution for 2-5 minutes, or soak the seeds in a diluted gibberellin solution for about 3 hours. After taking them out, wrap them with a wet cloth and wait for the seeds to germinate.

3. When planting lettuce in August, you can also choose low temperature germination. Wrap the lettuce seeds with moist gauze or cotton cloth, keep them moist and place them in the refrigerator, or if conditions permit, hang them in a well. Low temperature and high humidity can speed up the germination of lettuce seeds.
