What is the optimum temperature for the growth of Chinese cabbage?

Temperature requirements for growing Chinese cabbage

Chinese cabbage is a semi-hardy crop with neither strong heat resistance nor cold resistance. It will grow slowly when the temperature is above 25℃ or below 10℃, which is not conducive to seed germination and emergence. Therefore, the planting temperature of Chinese cabbage should generally be maintained at 20-25℃ . Chinese cabbage will emerge quickly, within one to two days. By maintaining this planting temperature, the seedlings can grow quickly and healthily.

Cabbage growth temperature

Chinese cabbage prefers a warm and cool climate to grow, but the growing period of cabbage is relatively long, and the temperature requirements in different growth and development periods are also different. The usual growth temperature range is 10-25℃ . The growth temperature of Chinese cabbage in the rosette stage is 17-20℃ , and the suitable growth temperature of Chinese cabbage in the mature heart stage is 12-22℃ .

Because cabbage is not cold-resistant, it is best not to plant it in winter. Spring, summer and autumn are all suitable for cabbage planting. If you plant cabbage in spring, you can choose March to April. If you plant cabbage in summer, mid-May to early July is the best time. When planting cabbage in autumn, you can choose between August and September. The growing period of cabbage is about 55 days.
