How to ferment a small amount of sheep manure at home (how to naturally ferment sheep manure as fertilizer)

Sheep manure is used as fertilizer for growing flowers

Sheep manure is an organic fertilizer often used in growing flowers. It is rich in nutrients and has a mild fertility. It can be used to loosen the soil and supplement the nutrients needed for flower growth.

Although sheep manure is a very good fertilizer for growing flowers, many flower lovers don’t know how to use it after collecting it.

As a result, it was applied to the flower pots without being fully fermented and decomposed. Not only did it fail to provide nutrients to the flowers, but it attracted many small insects, some of which even had a strong odor.

When using sheep manure as fertilizer to grow flowers, whether it is fermented by yourself or directly purchased fermented sheep manure fertilizer, it is required to be fully fermented and decomposed.

Although the fertility of sheep manure is relatively mild, if too much is buried directly in the soil without fermentation, it can easily burn the roots of flowers.

Unfermented sheep manure also contains some bacteria and insect eggs. When applied to flower pots, when they encounter suitable temperature and humidity, the flowers will be infected with pests and diseases, affecting the normal growth of the plants.

How to quickly ferment sheep manure

The sheep manure we collect ourselves must be fermented and decomposed before it can be used to grow flowers.

The method of sheep manure fermentation is also very simple. First, put the sheep manure in the sun to dry , and use the sunlight to sterilize and disinfect it.

In order to make the dried sheep dung better fermentable, you can grind it into fine powder, and then spray the crushed sheep dung powder with water to make it moist.

The humidity should be such that it feels damp when touched but is loose and does not stick to your hands. Being too moist or too dry will not lead to rapid fermentation.

After mixing the sheep manure evenly, pile it up in the sun, cover it with a layer of plastic sheet, and cover it tightly. Turn it upside down every 10 days or so, cover it with plastic sheet and continue to ferment. When you put your hand into the sheep manure and it is no longer very hot, it is considered fermented.

If you want the sheep manure to ferment quickly and without any odor, you can add a small amount of EM bacteria. This will take about 40 days to ferment and without any odor.

In the process of growing flowers, sheep manure is often used. Fermented sheep manure can be used to prepare flower soil, as base fertilizer, or directly as flower fertilizer to supplement nutrients for flowers.

Kind tips

When using sheep manure fertilizer to grow flowers, be careful not to use sheep manure that has not been fully fermented and decomposed for growing flowers, otherwise small insects will easily breed in the flower pots.

The fermented sheep manure fertilizer can be directly buried shallowly in the potting soil, or used as base fertilizer, or prepared into nutrient soil for growing flowers.
