How to plant potted chili peppers

How to plant potted chili peppers

Seed soaking and germination

First, you need to soak the seeds in water at 50 to 55 degrees, and maintain the water temperature at 30 degrees. After 12 to 24 hours, take out the seeds, drain the water and set aside. This can reduce the germination time of the plants and increase the germination rate.

Planting and seedling raising

When the seeds turn white, they can be sown. Before sowing, the soil needs to be watered thoroughly, then the seeds are evenly spread, and then covered with a layer of soil about 1 cm thick.

Thinning and transplanting

When the chili pepper grows 2 to 3 leaves, it is time to thin out the seedlings, leaving only one seedling in each disposable cup. After the seedlings emerge, make sure the soil is dry before watering. When the plant has about six or seven leaves, it is time to transplant it. After placing the seedling and soil in the pot, water it thoroughly. It is best to plant only one plant in a pot.

Water control and fertilization

Before the plant blooms and bears fruit, you must pay attention to the amount of watering, not too much, to promote the normal growth of the plant roots. For fertilization, ordinary organic fertilizer should be applied once every half a month. During the growth stage, it is also necessary to add soil in time. Generally speaking, more soil should be added at the roots.

Harvesting on trellises

When the main stem of the chili pepper grows twelve or thirteen leaves, the top needs to be removed. When the plant grows vigorously and produces many fruits, it is best to build a rack to support the plant to prevent the branches from being crushed by the fruits.
