How many kilograms of kidney beans are generally produced per mu? How to plant them to achieve high yield?

Kidney bean yield per mu

Due to factors such as variety and management level, the yield of kidney beans per mu is generally around 2,000-3,000 kilograms. The yield of kidney beans grown in greenhouses is generally around 3,000 kilograms per mu. In general, if excellent varieties are selected, the yield per mu should be around 3,000 kilograms.

Kidney Bean Planting Prospects

The market price of kidney beans is generally between 4 and 6 yuan per catty, which is nearly 1 times higher than that of ordinary beans, but the yield per mu is almost the same. It can be seen that the economic value of kidney beans is also considerable.

How to grow kidney beans for high yield

1. Land preparation and fertilization

Kidney beans are suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. Just turn the soil over, make ridges and furrows at intervals of about 20 cm, then evenly sprinkle fully decomposed livestock manure on the soil, and then wait for sowing.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

Kidney beans are difficult to germinate, so the seeds should be exposed to the sun for disinfection in advance, then soaked in formalin solution for about 5 minutes, and sown into the soil after drying. Holes can be made on the ridges at a distance of 30 cm per plant for sowing.

3. Fertilizer and water management

After planting, kidney beans can be watered once with fertilizer. Generally, you can choose to water with manure, urine and an appropriate amount of urea. The second fertilization can be carried out when the kidney beans are climbing seedlings, applying phosphorus fertilizer, potassium fertilizer and urea. The third fertilization can be carried out when the kidney beans are flowering and bearing beans, applying phosphorus fertilizer, potassium fertilizer, urea and boron fertilizer.

4. Prevent and control pests and diseases

During the growth period of kidney beans, diseases such as root rot and leaf blight may occur, which can be controlled by spraying polychlorinated fungus solvent. Common insect pests of kidney beans include aphids, loopers, cabbage loopers, armyworms, etc., which can be controlled by spraying dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane solvent or Bordeaux solvent.
