How to plant lettuce in summer and when to plant it How to grow seedlings in summer

Summer lettuce planting time

Generally speaking, the planting time of summer lettuce is from April to early to mid-May each year. From late May to July, the summer lettuce is covered with a shade net, which can improve the quality and yield of the summer lettuce.

Summer lettuce planting methods and key points

1. Growth

The growth environment of summer lettuce seeds is 15℃-20℃, the growth temperature of stems and leaves is 6≤25℃, and the optimal growth temperature is 11℃-18℃. It needs to be planted in a greenhouse, and slightly acidic soil should be selected for planting, and sandy soil is the best. Because lettuce has shallow roots and grows fast, it has high requirements for fertilizer and water, and a small amount of fertilizer should be applied to avoid damaging the root system.

2. Seed treatment

Before planting summer lettuce, the seeds need to be treated at low temperature for 1-2 hours, then wrapped in gauze and soaked in clean water for 2-4 hours so that the lettuce seeds can fully absorb water.

However, we must pay attention to the germination temperature not being too low. On the second day, open the gauze and spray water. Be sure to pay attention to the moisture of the seeds. Wait until most of the seeds begin to turn white before planting.

Points to note for daily management of lettuce in summer

After planting lettuce, pay attention to the density. If the distance between the seedlings is too close, it will have a great impact on the growth of the lettuce. Thinning should be carried out so that the lettuce will grow more luxuriantly in the later stage. At the same time, pay attention to soil moisture. Too much water will easily cause root rot. Drain the water in time during the rainy season.
