How many crops can wheat be planted in a year?

Wheat is divided into winter wheat and spring wheat, and can only be planted once a year . The winter wheat producing area south of the Great Wall of China, such as Liaodong, North China, southern Xinjiang, Shaanxi, and the provinces in the Yangtze River Basin, is planted around October every autumn. The spring wheat producing area north of the Great Wall, such as the Northeast and Northwest regions, is generally planted in March and April in spring.

Wheat growing conditions

Wheat is a long-day crop that prefers cool, ventilated and sufficient sunlight. The suitable daily average temperature for winter wheat is 16-18℃, and the suitable growth temperature for spring wheat is 12-14℃. It needs 8-12 hours of sunlight every day. If it is kept in a dark and lightless environment for a long time, it will be extremely difficult to ear and bear fruit.

Wheat plants need a lot of water to grow and bear fruit. Except for the summer when there is heavy rainfall and frequent irrigation is not required, large amounts of irrigation are required at other times. Wheat is suitable for planting in fertile soil with good fertilizer and water retention and strong air permeability. A large amount of fertilizer needs to be applied in the later stage for heading and fruiting.

Wheat harvest time

The growing period of winter wheat is about 300 days , and it is harvested in June of the following year. The growing period of spring wheat is shorter, generally about 100 days , and it matures in July and August. Generally, after it is harvested and ground into the flour we need, it can be put on the market for sale.
