How to grow hosta on the balcony, what should you pay attention to

1. Sunlight Supplement

Hosta is a shade-loving plant, but when it is growing vigorously, it can be placed on the balcony so that it can be exposed to enough light to ensure good growth. If there is a lack of light during its growth, it will seriously affect its growth, causing the leaves to turn yellow and the branches and leaves to become sparse and not vigorous. It cannot be left exposed to the sun all the time. It needs to be properly shielded from the scorching sun in summer to ensure that it is only exposed to soft light. You can use straw curtains to block it to avoid burns.

2. Moisture Application

It has relatively high requirements for water and likes to grow in a moist environment. It needs to be watered sufficiently to avoid long-term dryness, but the amount of water needs to be guaranteed. It should not be watered too much to prevent water accumulation.

3. Apply fertilizer

Fertilize regularly during the growing period, but more care is needed before flowering. Start preparing for the flowering period in May, apply a thin layer of light fertilizer once a month. Increase the frequency of fertilization in July and August to ensure that there are enough nutrients for flowering. By late September, the flowers have stopped blooming and the growth is relatively slow, so you can stop fertilizing.

4. Spray water to moisturize

When the air is dry, you also need to spray water on the leaves to increase the humidity and prevent the leaves from drying out.
