Bletilla striata is a plant of the Orchidaceae family and the genus Bletilla. The plant is 20 to 50 cm tall, with 4 to 5 leaves. Bletilla striata is also known as Lianjicao, Gangen, Baigei, Ruolan, Zhulan, Zilan, Zihui, Baili, Diluo, Baijiwa, Baigen, and Yangjiaoqi.

There are many types of Bletilla striata, with more than 70 varieties. According to the flower color, it can be divided into three types: yellow, white and purple. According to the size, it can be divided into large Bletilla striata, small Bletilla striata and giant stem Bletilla striata. According to the difference in sugar content, it can be divided into glutinous Bletilla striata and water Bletilla striata. According to the appearance, it can be divided into butterfly, round, sheep horn, trident and turtle Bletilla striata.

Planting conditions of Bletilla striata

Bletilla striata prefers warm, shady and humid environment and cannot tolerate direct sunlight. It can grow well under scattered light, such as under forests in wild valleys.

Bletilla striata likes a warm environment. If the summer temperature exceeds 35 degrees and the relative humidity of the air is above 80%, it is not conducive to its growth. It is not cold-resistant in winter. When the ambient temperature is below 10 degrees, Bletilla striata stops growing and it is difficult to survive the winter when frost occurs.

Bletilla striata likes warm and humid environment, so it generally lives in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. There are four cultivated varieties in my country, namely Bletilla striata, Bletilla striata, Bletilla striata and Bletilla striata with yellow flower. Bletilla striata is widely distributed in Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other provinces and regions.

Planting time of Bletilla striata

Bletilla striata is suitable for sowing in warm seasons, usually in early March in spring. At this time, all things revive, the temperature begins to rise, the air humidity is relatively high, and the survival rate of planting is higher.

The benefits of growing Bletilla striata are related to planting technology, market demand and price. The growth cycle of Bletilla striata is relatively long. It takes three years from sowing to harvesting. Each acre of land can produce about 700 kilograms of Bletilla striata. The market price is 60 yuan per kilogram.
