The best time to plant amaranth

Amaranth can be planted in spring or autumn. If you choose to plant it in spring, it is best to plant it around March or April, when the temperature will help the seedlings to germinate. The southern region is relatively warmer, so it can be planted in early March, while the northern region with cooler weather is best to wait until April.

1. Variety selection

The planting varieties of amaranth should be selected according to the local climate conditions at that time. When sowing in winter or early spring, you can choose amaranth with good cold resistance. In other seasons, you can focus on choosing amaranth with good disease and pest resistance.

2. Planting

The growth cycle of Amaranth is not long. It can usually be harvested in about one and a half months. Soak the seeds prepared in advance in water at room temperature for about a day. During the soaking process, gently rub them with your hands several times. After taking them out, let them dry naturally. Wrap them with a wet towel with good air permeability to germinate. When half of the seeds turn white, they can be sown.

Each time after applying fertilizer to amaranth, it is necessary to water it again, keep the soil moist at all times, remove weeds in time, pay more attention in dry weather, increase the number of watering, pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention in the rainy season, do not choose the time for transplanting in particularly hot summer afternoons, and reduce the amount of fertilizer used.
