How to propagate Pteris fasciata

Division propagation of Pteris fasciata

The pteris fern does not bloom and has no seeds, and its reproduction is mainly asexual.

The main method of propagation of Pteris fern is division. The phoenix fern can be divided throughout the year. Take out the more luxuriant phoenix fern plants from the flowerpots, use a sharp knife to cut the plants into several clumps, and plant them separately. You can also cut off the small plants growing from the fern plant for reproduction.

When propagating the fern by division, what needs to be paid attention to is shade and moisturizing. In addition, sometimes some wild varieties will grow in the shade of buildings or other relatively humid places. You can dig them up and plant them in pots.

Spore reproduction of Pteris fasciata

The pteris fern is a fern that has no flowers or fruits, but can reproduce using spores.

There are two methods of spore reproduction of Pteris fern. One is to let it reproduce naturally. After the spores of the pteris fern mature, they will burst, then leave the mother body and fall to the ground. If the conditions are suitable, they can reproduce new plants on their own. When the fern plant grows to a certain size, it can be transplanted into a pot.

The second is to collect the mature spores for reproduction. After the spores mature, carefully separate the spores on the back of the fern leaves, collect them, sprinkle them on the prepared substrate, and place them in a cool and humid place. They will germinate in a short time.

When the seedlings of Pteris crenata grow to a certain height (about 3 cm), they can be planted in pots for maintenance. After that, normal maintenance and management can be carried out.
