What is the best planting time and method for black beans?

What month is suitable for planting black beans?

The open-field planting of mung beans is usually carried out in summer, around June to August in the Yangtze River Basin and around June in North China. It can also be sown in January. The seeds in January germinate the fastest. The soil can be turned over before sowing to increase the soil's air permeability and drainage. Do not water after sowing.

How to plant black beans

1. Planting: Mung beans are usually planted by direct sowing. They can also be planted by furrowing or hole sowing. The spacing is 40-60cm and the row spacing is 100-130cm. About 3-4 seeds can be sown in each hole. After the mung beans emerge, only two plants are left in each hole.

2. Management: After selecting a planting site, you need to remove weeds from the soil, then combine it with plowing, apply about 3,000 kg of fertilizer per mu, and apply a small amount of chemical fertilizer together, then rake it flat to allow the soil and fertilizer to be evenly mixed.

Points to note when planting black beans

1. Watering: Mung Beans require less water and can be watered in small amounts. They can be watered 1-2 times during the vine extension period and once every 10 days during the flowering and pod period.

2. Weeding: After watering, the mung bean must be weeded properly to prevent the flowers and fruits from falling. Apply a small amount of thin fertilizer before flowering, and apply it again during the pod-setting period after flowering. When fertilizing, be sure to reasonably match the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.
