Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of purple cashmere

Causes and treatments of yellow leaves of purple cashmere

1. Overwatering

Reason: Purple cashmere is relatively drought-resistant and does not require too much water to grow, especially during the growth period, it does not need to be watered. During the summer dormancy period, you should add less water and keep the soil moist. There should be no water accumulation, otherwise the roots will easily rot and the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: If you water it too much, remove it from the pot, cut off the rotten roots and replant it. Try to water the purple cashmere as little as possible on a daily basis, once a week. During its growing period, do not water it unless it is dry, and when you do water it, try to water it thoroughly. In summer, pay attention to water control and avoid stagnant water.

2. Sun exposure

Reason: Purple cashmere prefers a warm, dry environment with moderate light. It cannot withstand direct sunlight or exposure. Even in winter when the sunlight is not too strong, you should pay attention to shading the purple cashmere. Once exposed to the sun, it is prone to yellowing.

Measures: Purple cashmere is suitable for staying in a semi-shaded environment, and it needs to be shaded when the sunlight is strong. So put it in a ventilated and cool place, but also with diffuse light. In winter, it needs to be placed in a sunny place indoors.

3. The soil is not breathable

Reason: Purple cashmere does not have high requirements for soil, but the air permeability must be good, and the soil must be loose, fertile, and have good drainage. If the soil is not air permeable, it is easy to cause the root temperature to be too high, which is not conducive to the growth of purple cashmere, and yellow leaves may also occur.

Measures: You can directly use the culture soil for succulents, which has high air permeability. You can also mix some peat with cinders and add an appropriate amount of vermiculite and perlite to help purple cashmere grow quickly.
