How often should I water azalea? When is the best time to water it?

How often should azaleas be watered?

Azalea is suitable for growing in a humid environment and needs sufficient water during its growth period. It can be watered once every three days or so, and the soil should be kept as moist as possible.

In summer, the temperature is very high and the climate is dry. You can water it once a day to keep it moist. In winter, water it when the soil is dry. Water it thoroughly when the soil is dry. When the soil is dry, you must quickly add water, but remember not to allow any water to remain.

How to water azalea

1. Spray : Azalea likes an environment with high humidity, so you can use spray when watering. While replenishing it with water, it can make the air around it humid, which is more conducive to its growth.

2. Flooding : Water along the inner wall of the flowerpot. Wait until water flows out of the small holes at the bottom of the flowerpot, which means it has been watered thoroughly.

3. Watering : If the flowerpot is relatively large and the indoor ventilation is not good, the soil is likely to be dry on the surface, but still wet inside. At this time, just add water to the dry surface to make it moist.

4. Sitting water : If possible, it is also a good idea to choose to replenish water for it by regular sitting water. Find a basin that is slightly larger than the flower pot, pour in clean water, soak half of the flower pot in the water for two or three minutes, and let the water seep into the soil from the drainage hole.

Precautions for watering azalea

1. Azalea likes slightly acidic water, and water with a pH value below 7 is suitable. If the water quality does not meet this acidity requirement, 0.1% ferrous sulfate can be added to the water to adjust it.

2. Choose overnight tap water to water azaleas. If you have a pool at home, it is best to use this water to water the flowers. The water without chlorine can promote microbial activity and decomposition of organic matter, which is beneficial to root absorption.

3. You can judge whether the soil in the pot is dry by knocking on the pot. If the sound is crisp, it means the soil in the pot is dry. This method requires comparative practice. After watering it thoroughly, you can feel it by knocking on the pot and listening to the sound.
