Can canna be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics methods and key points

Can canna be grown hydroponically?

Canna can be grown hydroponically. It floats on the water surface, which can improve water quality and purify the environment. Canna also likes fertilizer. Before planting soil-grown canna, basic fertilizer needs to be spread into the soil. During the growing period, fertilizer needs to be added in time according to the growth status to improve its development. In comparison, hydroponics only requires replacing the nutrient solution, which is easier to operate.

Canna hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. Dig out the soil-grown canna seedlings, remove the aging and rotten roots, clean them and transplant them into the culture container. Add water to the container to two-thirds of the root system and change the water every two days.

2. Cut the canna rhizome into small pieces, each with two buds and a small amount of fibrous roots. Rinse them and plant them in a culture container. Change the water every three days. Hydroponic roots will grow within two weeks.

3. Canna should be placed in a place without direct sunlight in summer and on the sunny side of the room in winter. Change the water once a week in summer. When changing the water, you can add 1-2 drops of nutrient solution to accelerate the growth of the plant. In addition, keep the room ventilated. If the roots of canna are rotten, just remove the rotten roots and replace with clean water.

Precautions for growing canna in water

1. Temperature: When the temperature remains above 16 degrees, canna can continue to bloom. When the temperature is below 16 degrees, it may go dormant. When the temperature is below 7 degrees, the plant will be frozen.

2. Fertilization: Canna will grow vigorously after two weeks of hydroponics. You can add nutrient solution and place it in a place with scattered sunlight for continued maintenance. The nutrient solution can be replaced every three weeks.

3. Watering: In the hot summer, you should avoid sunburn to the plants. You can spray clean water on the leaves, otherwise the leaves will dry and turn yellow.
