Pests and diseases of golden diamond and their control methods

Diseases

Symptoms

Common diseases of golden diamond include leaf spot and anthracnose, which have similar symptoms and are both caused by fungi.

In the early stage of the disease, irregular spots will appear on the leaves, the color will gradually deepen, and the spots will connect with each other to form large spots. The leaves are droopy and dull in color. The plant gradually becomes difficult from top to bottom until it withers and dies.

Prevention and treatment measures

Strengthen management: Golden Diamond likes warm and humid environment, and it is very easy to breed bacteria and fungi and cause diseases. Therefore, during maintenance, pay attention to maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity, but also ventilate frequently and control water appropriately. Once diseased leaves are found, remove them immediately to avoid infecting other plants.

Drug control: Start spraying pesticides from the early stage of the disease to prevent the disease from spreading. Commonly used agents include 1000 times diluted 20% silicazole·myclobutanil, 800-1000 times diluted 38% cypermethrin, or 1000 times diluted 4% flusilazole. Pay attention to the alternating use of drugs to prevent the bacteria from developing drug resistance.

Biological control (using outdoor cultivation): Use 300 times diluted Trichoderma harzianum and spray it directly on the diseased leaves. At the same time, use fumigation preparations to effectively prevent and control leaf spot disease. Pesticides can also be applied on cloudy days, and temperature and humidity have little effect on the efficacy of the medicine.

Pests

Symptoms

Common insect pests include red spiders and scale insects. They mainly feed on leaf sap, absorbing nutrients from the plants, causing the plants to grow weak and the leaves to be damaged. When the pest is serious, the leaves will appear web-like and damaged, affecting the appearance.

Prevention and treatment measures

When maintaining it at home, you can gently brush it off with a toothbrush or rinse it with water.

When the occurrence is large, 1000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate can be sprayed during the nymph stage.

Strengthen management, red spider mites can be prevented by increasing air humidity, and frequent ventilation can prevent scale insects. When caring for golden diamonds on an open-air balcony, in order to prevent outdoor insects from damaging the leaves, you can add a net around the plant to prevent insects and sun exposure.
