When and how to repot cymbidium

When and how to repot cymbidium

Cymbidium repotting time

It is recommended to repot Cymbidium in spring and autumn, because the temperature and climate at this time are suitable, which has less impact on the plant, and repotting is conducive to its growth. It will adapt to the new environment in about a week after repotting.

Cymbidium repotting methods and steps

1. Depotting : It is recommended to cut off water three days before depotting. When depotting, first use a small shovel to draw a circle along the inner wall of the pot, or tap the outer wall of the pot to make the potting soil easier to separate. Then turn the pot upside down, hold the rhizome, and take it out carefully.

2. Prune the roots : After digging out the plant, shake off the soil around the roots, clean the roots, then cut off the rotten roots, old roots and excess fibrous roots, then use carbendazim solution to disinfect and sterilize, and finally dry the roots.

3. Prepare potting soil : Prepare a larger flower pot with good air permeability. The soil should be loose, fertile and well-drained. You can mix leaf mold, peat soil, coarse sand and base fertilizer, and then disinfect the potting soil.

4. Plant in the pot : Spread a layer of small gravel at the bottom of the pot to increase permeability, then place the plant in the middle of the prepared soil, fill the soil after the roots are stretched out, compact the soil lightly, spray water appropriately, and finally place it in a cool place.

Cymbidium orchid care after repotting

After repotting the Cymbidium, place it in a cool and ventilated place, water it again every 2-4 days, and fertilize it once a week. It will adapt to the pot in about 20-180 days, and then you can maintain it normally.
