How to prune tiger jasmine

How to prune tiger jasmine

1. Timely pinching

Pinching has a great impact on growth and is a critical point. It can be done when the branches grow to about 8-10 cm, or after growing 2-3 nodes. Remove the top growth point to inhibit top growth and promote the appearance and growth of side branches. The side branches also need to be processed, and some weak branches should be removed as well. These branches are difficult to grow into strong branches and cannot become flowering branches, so only the thick branches should be left.

2. Thinning branches

It is not good for the branches to grow too vigorously. The branches need to be thinned out, and the overly dense and overlapping branches should be removed, and some should be removed. As long as you find dead and yellow branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, cut them off immediately. Do not leave them there to avoid affecting other branches. When pruning, remove them directly from the base. Do not leave them on the top. Cut them off and burn them in one go.

3. Remove the remaining flowers

After the flowers have finished blooming, the withered flowers need to be dealt with and cut off from the branches. Do not leave them on the branches, as they will affect the appearance and cause rot.

4. Remove old leaves

Some old leaves will appear during the growth process, which should be removed immediately upon discovery.
