How to plant osmanthus seeds

Osmanthus seeds planting time

Osmanthus seeds are suitable for planting in spring and autumn, specifically from April to May and from August to September. The climate in these two periods is warm, which is conducive to seed germination. Try not to sow in summer and winter. The temperature in these two periods is not suitable for seed germination, affecting the survival rate.

Osmanthus fragrans seeds planting method

1. Prepare the soil: Osmanthus seeds are suitable for planting in loose, breathable, well-drained soil. You can use leaf mold or fine sand humus soil. Avoid using too sticky soil, otherwise it will affect the germination rate of the seeds.

2. Seed processing: Select plump and healthy seeds and remove the shriveled ones. Osmanthus seeds need to be soaked in warm water for 24 hours before planting. After the outer skin is softened, it is conducive to seed germination.

3. Sowing: Sprinkle the osmanthus seeds evenly on the surface of the soil, then cover the surface of the seeds with a 2 cm layer of soil, spray the soil with a spray bottle, and do not water it.

4. Germination management: During the seed germination period, the maintenance temperature must be maintained at 18-30℃. Too high or too low temperature will affect seed germination. Observe the humidity of the soil. It should not be too dry or too humid. If it is dry, spray water in time to moisturize it.

Precautions for daily management of osmanthus

Osmanthus likes sunshine, so it should be placed in a sunny place and get more sun. Water it according to the principle of "watering when the soil is dry and watering when the soil is wet". When the air is dry, spray water around the plant frequently to increase humidity. Apply compound fertilizer once every 15 days during the growth period, and apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in the early stage of flowering.
