Spring feather breeding methods and precautions

Spring feather is an evergreen herb with an elegant plant shape and slender and upright stems and leaves. Its large, deeply-lobed, feather-like leaves appear particularly dark green in the sun, and look like large green palms from a distance. They have a high ornamental value and give people a fresh and elegant feeling. However, many people often encounter problems when caring for spring feathers, such as leaves becoming wilting and yellowing, or even growing worse and worse, eventually leading to the withering and death of the plant, but they can never find the cause. Let’s learn about the spring feather breeding methods and precautions together.

1. Lighting management

Spring fern has a low dependence on light and prefers a semi-shady growing environment. Strong sunlight can easily cause sunburn on the leaves, which in turn affects their normal growth and causes them to gradually weaken. Although Chunyu does not like strong light, it cannot be completely deprived of sunlight. It should be placed in a place with sufficient scattered sunlight, and avoid being in a dark corner for a long time, otherwise it will cause the branches and leaves to grow too long, the plant to become loose, the leaves to become dull in color, and lack vitality.

The summer sun is scorching, so you need to move the spring fern to a well-ventilated, semi-shaded place in time to reduce the burns to the leaves from direct sunlight and reduce the risk of the leaves drying out and turning yellow. The bright scattered light at this time is sufficient to meet the growth needs of spring fern.

During the growth period of spring fern, appropriately increasing soft light will help photosynthesis, enhance the plant's resistance, promote nutrient absorption and growth, make the leaves greener, and even reflect a unique luster under light.

2. Soil selection

Spring fern has strong vitality and is not demanding on soil, but in order to make it grow more vigorously, loose and fertile soil is the first choice. It is not suitable for planting in alkaline soil and prefers slightly acidic soil. You can go directly to the flower shop to buy special soil suitable for growing spring fern, which is convenient and quick.

According to the habits of spring fern, you can mix leaf mold, peat soil, garden soil and a small amount of river sand. To ensure soil safety, the mixed soil needs to be processed, such as stir-frying in a pan or exposing it to the sun, to kill insect eggs and bacteria and prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.

3. Watering tips

Spring fern likes a humid growing environment and requires a lot of water. When caring for the plant, you can water it more often to keep the soil slightly moist. Using rice water for watering will help the plant grow, but you must pay attention to drainage to avoid water accumulation. Although spring fern likes water, long-term waterlogging in the pot soil will cause root rot, affecting its growth and ornamental value. Watering should be done when the soil is slightly dry. During the high temperatures in summer, the water in the plant evaporates quickly, so it is necessary to spray water frequently with a watering can to keep the leaves clean and moist.

4. Trimming

Pruning is an important part of green plant maintenance, and dry, yellow and rotten leaves need to be removed regularly. These unhealthy leaves will consume a lot of nutrients and may infect other leaves. Once discovered, they must be cut off decisively without hesitation.

In addition to the above aspects, other details should be paid attention to in the maintenance of spring fern, such as fertilization, disease and pest control, etc. You can observe this based on the actual growth of your own spring feathers.
