How to plant orange seeds

Orange seed planting time

The best time to plant orange seeds is in spring and autumn every year, on warm days. This is the time when oranges are in their vigorous growth period. Planting them will help the seeds germinate and the germination rate will increase. After planting, the seeds will take root and germinate quickly.

How to plant orange seeds

1. Select seeds

Before planting oranges, you must select suitable seeds. The seeds must be fresh and healthy, with a full and complete appearance, without any damage, breakage or mildew, and the pulp residue on the skin must be washed clean, otherwise unqualified seeds will be difficult to germinate.

2. Seed catalysis

Soak the selected seeds in warm water for about 24 hours to allow the skin to gradually soften. Then take them out, dry the surface moisture with a paper towel, and soak them in clean water for 5 days. During this period, make sure to replace the water every day. Do not soak them for too long, otherwise the seeds may rot and die.

3. Soil preparation

Orange seeds can be planted in ordinary garden soil, but if you want the oranges to grow well, it is best to mix humus soil, garden soil, sandy carbon soil, etc. The mixed soil has good air permeability and drainage, and it also has a certain basic fertility, which is suitable for planting.

4. Planting techniques

Place the soaked and germinated seeds into the potting soil, press them slightly to fix the seeds in the soil, then cover the surface with some pebbles or sawdust, water until the soil is completely wet but no water remains. After that, provide appropriate light protection to prevent exposure to the sun, and the seeds will germinate soon.

Orange daily management precautions

During the daily management of oranges, attention should be paid to temperature control, water and fertilizer management, and regular repotting. Its suitable growth temperature is between 15-35 degrees Celsius. Watering and fertilizing should be moderate, following the principle of small amounts and multiple times. In addition, repotting is required during the flower bud differentiation and fruit growth period.
