How to propagate Fuchsia: cutting, sowing, tissue culture propagation methods

Fuchsia reproduction method

There are three main methods of propagating fuchsia, including cutting propagation, sowing propagation, and tissue culture, which are mostly carried out in spring and autumn. The temperature and humidity in spring are suitable, which is conducive to the growth and development of the plant. If it is in autumn, although it can also take root and sprout, the temperature is low, and warming measures need to be taken. The temperature in summer and winter is not suitable, and the survival rate is not high.

Common propagation methods of Fuchsia

1. Fuchsia cutting propagation

Choose a healthy and strong top of a fuchsia plant with a length of 5 to 8 cm. Insert it into the sand bed and keep the soil moist. It will take about half a month to take root. After taking root, plant it in a pot immediately, otherwise the roots will rot. Pay attention to ventilation and cooling in summer.

2. Seed propagation of fuchsia

Fuchsia can also be propagated by seeds in spring and autumn, but the number of its seeds is small, so this method is rarely used. Seedlings are usually grown in a greenhouse by broadcasting. The ambient temperature is controlled between 15-20 degrees. With appropriate watering, small buds will grow in about 15 days, and then flowers will bloom in the spring of the following year.

3. Fuchsia tissue culture

In addition to the above propagation methods, fuchsia can also be cultured using tissues. This method requires the use of professional equipment and technology, and the stem tip or the tender leaves on it can be picked as the external plant.
