Northeast Garlic Harvest Time

The harvest time of Northeast garlic will vary slightly due to geographical, climatic and other reasons, but most of them are sown around October in autumn and harvested when the garlic leaves wither in May-June of the following year. The garlic can be harvested when the leaves turn yellow and the cloves are more protruding.

Northeast Garlic Origin

There are famous garlic producing areas in all parts of my country, such as Helong and Nong'an in Jilin Province, Ning'an and Acheng in Heilongjiang Province, Jinxiang, Anqiu and Cangshan in Shandong Province, Kaiyuan and Haicheng in Liaoning Province, Yongnian and Anguo in Hebei Province, etc. The harvesting time is usually in May-June of the following year.

Northeast garlic planting time and key points

1. Planting time

Northeast garlic likes to grow in a cool environment. The climate in the south is relatively warm and the temperature is relatively high. The appropriate time is August to September in autumn. The temperature in the north is relatively low, so it is not suitable for autumn sowing. The appropriate time is March to April in spring.

2. Choose garlic

Before planting Northeast garlic, you should choose a good quality variety and pick garlic cloves that are plump and undamaged. Remove the old skin on the outside and the stem disk underneath. Then soak them in clean water for 3-5 minutes, take them out and dry them.

3. Notes

Garlic is suitable for planting in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Plant the selected garlic, cover it with a layer of fine soil, and gently compact the soil next to it. Water it thoroughly after planting. Water it every day before seedlings emerge, and pay attention to fertilization in the later stage.
