What are the cultivation methods and precautions of thorny plum

Growth habit of thornberry

Barbary Apricot prefers a warm and dry climate, with a suitable growth temperature of 18-25℃. It can safely overwinter if the room temperature is above 3℃ in winter. If it is above 15℃ and has sufficient sunlight, it can continue to bloom. Barbary Apricot is drought-resistant but not water-resistant, and grows well in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil.

Cultivation method of thorny plum

1. Soil

Barbary aconite is a plant of the genus Euphorbia in the Euphorbiaceae family. It has strong adaptability and is not demanding on soil. If you want to grow Barbary aconite, you can use loose, fertile and well-breathable sandy soil for growing it. During maintenance, the Barbary aconite needs to be placed in a cool and ventilated position indoors. During maintenance, windows should be opened frequently to keep indoor air circulating.

2. Water and fertilizer

During the maintenance period, the barberry needs to be watered and fertilized appropriately, and the soil should be kept moist during the growth period. During the maintenance period, it should be noted that the barberry is not tolerant to waterlogging, and it needs to be drained in time after rain. When fertilizing the barberry, compound fertilizers are mainly used to promote the growth of flowers and leaves. However, during the winter, attention should be paid to control water and stop fertilizing.

3. Lighting

Barbary amaranth needs light during its growth period. Adequate light is conducive to its growth. During maintenance, it should be noted that Barbary amaranth is not resistant to exposure to strong light. If the light intensity is high in summer, it needs shade. During the low temperatures in winter, it can be moved indoors to a sunny place for maintenance.

Precautions for the maintenance of thorny plum

The barberry needs to be pruned during its growth period, but the barberry is poisonous, so you need to wear gloves. In the early stages of growth, you need to pinch the top of the barberry and remove excess leaves to facilitate the growth of new buds. During the growth period, the long branches at the top of the barberry should be cut off to prevent the barberry from growing too tall. The dead and old branches of the barberry should also be cut off to save nutrients for the barberry.
