Can Phalaenopsis be exposed to the sun?

Phalaenopsis is a shade-loving plant, but it also needs sunlight during its growth period. It can only be exposed to diffuse light and not direct sunlight. If it is not exposed to light for a long time, the branches and leaves will grow too long and it will be difficult to bloom. It cannot be lack of light during the flowering period. More sunlight can make the flowers more colorful and the flowering period may also be prolonged. The daily light time should be more than 4 hours.

Phalaenopsis growth light

Phalaenopsis cannot tolerate exposure to strong light. During the summer, the temperature is high and there is a lot of scorching sun, so Phalaenopsis needs to be placed in a cool and ventilated place indoors for maintenance. The light is too strong at noon, so you can move it outdoors in the afternoon or early morning when the light is weaker.

During winter, if the temperature is below 10 degrees, Phalaenopsis will stop growing and enter a dormant period. The light is weak in winter, so you can place the Phalaenopsis on a well-lit balcony. Appropriate supplementary light can make the Phalaenopsis grow better in the future.

In spring and autumn, when the light intensity is not strong and Phalaenopsis is in its growing season, providing sufficient light and keeping it outdoors in good light can promote its growth and flowering.

What to do if Phalaenopsis wilts in the sun

If Phalaenopsis is exposed to strong light or left in the sun for a long time, it will get sunburned. Timely preventive measures need to be taken. You can move it to a cool, well-ventilated environment, water it appropriately to keep it moist, and after a period of time, the plant will slowly resume growth.
