Time and method of planting Poria cocos

Planting time of Poria cocos

Poria cocos is generally planted in May and June each year. The specific time needs to be determined according to local climatic conditions, but it should not be delayed until July and August. Since the weather is relatively hot starting in July, it is not conducive to the survival of Poria cocos. If it is planted at this time, it will lead to a low survival rate and cause economic losses.

How to plant Poria cocos

1. Prepare the materials

Poria cocos is a parasitic fungus and requires material preparation before planting. Its growth is inseparable from pine wood, so it needs to be prepared in advance. The pine wood should then be divided into sections, with each section about 1 meter long. The bark should be cut off and placed on the land, covered with grass.

2. Planning and land preparation

Choose loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil slopes for planting. After the site is selected, deep plow the soil, level the soil, and expose it to the sun for disinfection. About 15 days before inoculation, deep plow the soil again to eliminate pests and ensure the growth of Poria cocos.

3. Timely vaccination

First, you need to choose a suitable strain of fungus, dig a cellar along the slope on loose and fertile soil, place the logs, and then disinfect the strain of fungus. Then place the Poria cocos evenly at the two ends or joints of the logs, sprinkle termite-killing agents on them, and it is best to cover them with a layer of soil.

Precautions for planting Poria cocos

White mycelium will grow 7 days after Poria cocos is inoculated. It is necessary to check the growth of fungi in the planting area in time. If there are any omissions, they must be replanted in time. An inspection should be carried out every 10 days or so to check for dead or foreign fungi. If there are any, they must be removed in time, otherwise it will infect other healthy fungi.
