Where is pepper suitable for growing?

Growth habits of pepper

Pepper is usually planted by cuttings. The seedlings grown from cuttings begin to grow main stems about 1 to 2 months after sowing. When conditions are suitable, pepper can bloom all year round. Due to different climatic conditions in different production areas, the flowering period also varies. The flowering period in Hainan is around March to May, and in Fujian it is generally around May to June.

Where do peppers like to grow?

Pepper is native to Southeast Asia and is cultivated in Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Yunnan provinces in my country. It is now widely planted in tropical regions.

Pepper has strong adaptability and mainly grows in shady woods. It is drought-resistant and cold-resistant, but not waterlogged. The soil for growing pepper is mostly fertile sandy soil.

Pepper's growing environment and conditions

(1) Temperature: Pepper has relatively high requirements for temperature. The annual average temperature needs to be around 21-26°C. The low temperature in winter will have a certain impact on the growth of pepper. When the temperature is below 15°C, the growth basically stops. At the same time, too high temperature is also not good for the growth of pepper.

(2) Rainfall: Pepper does not require much rainfall. It needs sufficient and evenly distributed rainfall. Too much or too concentrated rainfall is not good for pepper. Generally, pepper can grow normally when the annual rainfall is around 800 to 2400 mm.

(3) Light: The light requirements of pepper vary depending on the variety and age. Pepper cultivated in China requires moderate shade during the seedling stage. Especially in Hainan, where the sunlight is strong in summer, a greenhouse is needed for shade.
