1. Morphological characteristics1. Canna. Its plants are all green, and are generally about 1.5 meters in height. The leaves are oblong in shape, ranging from 10 cm to 30 cm in length, and can reach 10 cm in width. Its flowers are red, and the bracts are green and about 1.2 cm long. The sepals are about 1 cm long, generally green, but sometimes red. Its capsules are green, long oval in shape, and between 1.2 cm and 1.8 cm in length. The flowering and fruiting period is between March and December each year. 2. Bird of paradise. The height of the bird of paradise is generally between 1 meter and 2 meters. The roots are relatively thick and the stems are not very obvious. The leaves generally grow symmetrically and are oblong in shape, about 40 cm long and 15 cm wide. The petioles are two or three times longer than the leaves and have a longitudinal groove in the middle. The length of the pedicels is generally about the same as the length of the leaves. Its inflorescence bracts are green but have red edges and are about 15 cm long. The outer petals of its flower are orange, while the inner petals are sky blue. The shape of the flower is quite special, just like a crane looking into the distance, which is very beautiful. Its flowering period is in autumn and winter, and the flowering period can last for more than one hundred days. 2. Living habits1. Canna. It likes warm climate and it is best not to be frozen or frost-damaged. The best temperature is between 25℃ and 30℃. It has strong adaptability and is not picky about soil, but it will grow better in fertile sandy soil. The soil can be slightly moist, but not dry. It is sown in spring in April and May, and will continue to bloom from June until the frost, with a very long flowering period. Its rhizomes can survive the winter in the open in the south, but in the north they must be artificially protected to survive the winter safely. 2. Bird of paradise. It likes warm or semi-shaded locations. The most suitable temperature is 12℃ to 25℃. When grown indoors in winter, the minimum temperature must be controlled above 5 degrees Celsius. It usually blooms in autumn or winter, but if the temperature, light and other conditions can be controlled well, it is possible to bloom throughout the year, and the flowering period of a single flower can reach more than a month. |
