The difference between Mirabilis jalapa and Jasmine

1. Differences in the stem

The main stem of Mirabilis jalapa is relatively upright and cylindrical, about 50 to 100 cm in height, with many branches that stretch outward and swollen nodes underneath.

Jasmine is a climbing shrub with slightly flattened stems and a high height, reaching about 3 meters. The branches distributed above are relatively slender.

2. Differences in flowers

The former has flowers in more colors, which are colorful, including purple, yellow, white or variegated colors. It can also produce two colors of flowers on the same plant. The flowers bloom from June to October. The shape of the flowers also looks neat and energetic.

The latter's flowers are relatively simple in color, showing a simple and elegant white color and emitting a fragrant aroma. The flowering period is also longer than the former, and it can bloom continuously from early summer to late autumn.

3. Differences in Fruits

The fruit of the former is spherical in shape, black in color, with longitudinal ridges and a reticular texture on it.

The fruit of the latter is purple-black in color.
