Can poinsettia be hydroponically cultivated? Hydroponics cultivation methods and precautions

Can poinsettia be grown hydroponically?

Poinsettia is a shrub belonging to the genus Euphorbia. Common poinsettias are grown in soil, but because it is relatively water-resistant, it can also be grown hydroponically. Poinsettias grown hydroponically have a balanced supply of nutrient solution, so the flowers bloom more brightly.

Poinsettia hydroponic cultivation methods and key points

1. When growing hydroponically, try to cut the stronger branches of the current year, cut them one centimeter below the branches, leaving one or two leaves on the top. Sometimes, half a leaf should be cut off to reduce water evaporation.

2. Choose healthy poinsettias as hydroponic materials, and make sure the roots are clean and free of soil.

3. Soak the washed poinsettia roots in the solution for disinfection, then dry them for later use.

4. Place the dried poinsettia into the prepared container and pour in clean water and an appropriate amount of nutrient solution.

5. Place the container in a ventilated and well-lit place and observe.

Precautions for growing poinsettia in water

1. The most suitable temperature for poinsettia growth is 18-25 degrees Celsius, and it should not be lower than 10 degrees Celsius in winter.

2. Poinsettia is prone to disease. If it becomes sick, remember to improve the water environment and increase ventilation.

3. When changing the water, change it every 2-3 days. When it takes root, you can change the water once every half a month. Don't forget to add an appropriate amount of nutrient solution when changing the water.

4. Poinsettia is a light-loving plant. During hydroponics, it is necessary to ensure that it has both smooth ventilation and sufficient sunlight.
