Can succulents be grown hydroponically?

Succulents can certainly be grown hydroponically, but compared to soil cultivation, the growth rate of hydroponics is slower, and their leaves will grow thinner and not as full as those grown in soil. In addition, the ornamental value of hydroponics succulents is not very high.

Methods and key points of hydroponic cultivation of succulent plants

1. Root washing and hydroponics

Rinse the roots of the succulents, then prepare a hydroponic bottle, fill 2/3 of the bottle with clean water, soak the roots of the succulents in the clean water, and be careful not to let the succulents get wet. Change the water once a day in the early stage of hydroponics. When the succulents grow new aquatic roots, observe the turbidity of the water and replace the water.

2. Hydroponics

Usually, succulents need to be placed in a cool and ventilated place after beheading. After the cut on the succulent is dry, prepare a hydroponic container filled with water, place the succulent on the hydroponic bottle, and keep a distance of 5 cm between the cut of the succulent and the water surface. After the succulent grows water roots, let the water roots soak in clean water. After the roots of the succulent grow to 3 cm, they can be cultivated in hydroponic culture.

Precautions for growing succulent plants in water

1. Hydroponic carrier : Be sure to use transparent glass bottles, which will help you observe the growth of the roots. The water used for hydroponics can be tap water or mineral water.

2. Change the water in time : Change the water once a day in the early stage, and once every three days in the later stage. Using only clean water does not contain nutrients, and you should also add some special nutrient solution for succulents to promote growth.

3. Foliar fertilization : Foliar fertilization is also called foliar fertilization. It can be applied once every 10 days, but do not do it at noon when the sun is shining brightly, as it will burn the leaves.
