When is the best time to sow rose seeds?

Rose seed sowing time

Rose seeds are suitable for sowing in spring and autumn. If you want to sow in spring, the best time is March to May. If you want to sow in autumn, the time can be August to October. When planting, if the temperature can be well controlled, it can be done all year round. If the temperature is too low during planting, the seeds will easily be stimulated by the low temperature and will not germinate.

Rose seed planting method and steps

1. Seedling cultivation

Generally, roses are planted from seedlings. You can collect strong and good quality rose seeds in spring, bury them in sandy soil, sprinkle a little water every day, increase the amount of watering in summer, and seedlings will grow in autumn. You can also directly purchase rose seedlings for planting.

2. Soil selection

Roses are highly adaptable to the environment and are drought and high temperature resistant. They are suitable for planting in fertile, well-drained, nutrient-rich sandy soil. Roses can be planted in leaf mold and then mixed with an appropriate amount of river sand and organic fertilizer to make the plants grow better.

3. Seedling management

Remove the seedlings grown in the sand, wash the sand on their roots, and then plant the rose seedlings in the prepared soil. The soil needs to be compacted and placed in a semi-shaded place. Wait for the seedlings to adapt to the new soil, and then give them water and fertilizer after about a week.
