River shrimp farming methods and techniques

River shrimp farming methods and techniques

River shrimp is an aquatic animal with rich nutrition and high economic value. As people pursue healthy eating, the market demand for river shrimp is growing. Therefore, mastering the breeding methods and techniques of river shrimp is of great significance to improving the economic benefits of farmers and promoting the development of fisheries. Let’s talk about the breeding methods and techniques of river shrimp.

1. Pond Site Selection

River shrimp breeding ponds should be located near water sources, in a quiet environment, with fresh water and no pollution. The pond area is generally 5 to 10 acres, the water depth is 1.5 to 2.5 meters, and there should be a 10 to 20 centimeters silt layer at the bottom of the pond. At the same time, the pond should have a good water supply and drainage system to regulate water quality and facilitate fishing.

2. Purchase of shrimp fry

When purchasing shrimp fry, you should choose shrimp fry that are strong, uniform in size, bright in color, and strong in activity. The optimum size of shrimp fry is 2 to 3 cm in length. At the same time, attention should be paid to the source and quality of the shrimp fry to ensure that they are free of virus and parasite infection.

3. Feeding and Management

1. Feed selection: There are two main types of feed for river shrimp: natural bait and artificial compound feed . Natural baits include small fish, plankton, aquatic plants , etc.; artificial compound feeds should be reasonably formulated according to the growth stage and nutritional needs of river shrimps.

2. Feeding method: Feeding should follow the principle of "fixed time, fixed quantity, fixed point and fixed quality". Generally, shrimps are fed 2 to 3 times a day, and the feeding amount should be 5% to 10% of the shrimp's body weight. At the same time, the feeding amount should be flexibly adjusted according to the weather, water quality and shrimp growth.

3. Daily management: Regularly check the water quality of the pond and the growth of shrimp, clean up leftover bait and dirt in time, and keep the pond environment clean and hygienic. At the same time, we must do a good job in preventing the pond from escaping and theft to ensure the safety of the shrimp.

4. Water quality control

Water quality is an important factor affecting the growth of river shrimp. During the breeding process, the pond water quality indicators such as pH value, dissolved oxygen, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, etc. should be tested regularly. The water quality is maintained stable by adjusting the amount of water inlet and outlet, increasing oxygen, and applying fertilizers. At the same time, we must pay attention to preventing water quality deterioration and avoiding the growth of harmful algae such as blue-green algae.

5. Disease prevention and control

During the river shrimp farming process, common diseases include white spot disease, black gill disease, and red body disease. In order to prevent the occurrence of diseases, the following points should be done: first, strengthen the quarantine and disinfection of shrimp fry to prevent diseased shrimp fry from entering the pond; second, regularly use disinfectants such as quicklime and bleaching powder to disinfect the pond; third, strengthen feeding management to improve the immunity of shrimp; fourth, if the disease is discovered, it should be treated in time to prevent the spread of the disease.

6. Fishing and Transportation

When river shrimps reach marketable size, they should be harvested in a timely manner. The fishing methods include ground traps, scoop nets, etc. Be careful to avoid injuring the shrimp during the fishing process. River shrimps should be transported in time after being caught. During transportation, the shrimp bodies should be kept moist and ventilated to prevent them from drying out and deteriorating.
