What are the cultivation methods and precautions of Mandarin Duck Jasmine?

Growth habits of jasmine

Mandarin duck jasmine is a perennial evergreen shrub. It likes high temperature, humidity, sufficient light, loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic soil, tolerates semi-shade, drought, barrenness, avoids waterlogging, and fears cold. The suitable temperature for growth is 18-30℃.

Cultivation method of mandarin duck jasmine

Soil: It is not picky about the soil, but when growing it at home, you should try to use loose flower soil that contains some nutrients.

Light: It only needs about 6 hours of light a day. The light exposure time can be slightly extended during the growth period. It is more appropriate to keep the breeding temperature at 18-24℃.

Watering: For hydroponic jasmine, you should pour clean water into the pot every morning and pour out the water in the pot at night. Change the water once a day at the beginning, and change it every three days after a while. If it is soil-cultured jasmine, you need to water it every one or two days to maintain the moisture of the soil.

Fertilization: Potted mandarin duck jasmine can use the common flower compound fertilizer on the market, apply it before flowering, do not fertilize during the flowering period, and reduce or stop fertilizing in autumn and winter. Hydroponic mandarin duck jasmine can be grown without fertilizer, and ensure that the light and temperature are suitable.

Pruning: If the leaves on one side grow too densely, you need to select some of the slower growing ones and cut them off. If the leaves turn yellow, you need to cut them off from the base. This can save nutrients and help other leaves grow.

Precautions for breeding of mandarin duck jasmine

The amount of watering should be changed in different seasons. The temperature is higher in summer and the evaporation rate of water will be faster. Therefore, in summer, when caring for the mandarin duck jasmine, be sure to spray the leaves with clean water to ensure the surrounding temperature and humidity.

Pest control is also very necessary. Pay attention to the growth and health of the plants. If pests appear, spray pesticides in time for prevention and control.
