Can Yifanfengshun be propagated by cuttings? A method of rapid rooting and survival of cuttings

Can the plant "Smooth Sailing" be propagated by cuttings?

All the best times to do this are April in spring or September to October in autumn. Rooting will occur faster at this time, and the survival rate will be higher in an environment with suitable temperature. The temperature during cuttings should be maintained at around 15-25℃.

When to take cuttings?

The time for cuttings of Yifanfengshun can be roughly divided into two periods, namely April to May in spring and August to October in autumn. The cultivation temperature is generally controlled between 15℃ and 25℃.

If you can control the temperature, humidity, light and other factors for the cutting operation in a greenhouse or other greenhouse environment, you can carry out the cutting operation all year round.

Things to note when taking cuttings

Time selection: It is best to choose spring and autumn. The climate is more suitable in these two time periods, and the temperature can be maintained at around 20 degrees. The survival rate after cuttings is relatively high. Other time periods are also acceptable, but attention must be paid to the control of the surrounding temperature.

Cut cuttings: Choose a healthy and strong Sempervivum plant, cut strong branches from it, and then divide it into several sections. Each section should have two nodes, retain aerial roots, and remove excess leaves. After cutting, you cannot use it for cuttings immediately, but put it aside to dry first.

Prepare the substrate: The substrate for cuttings should be mainly breathable, loose and air-permeable. It can be prepared with fine sand, vermiculite, peat soil and perlite. Such prepared substrate can meet the requirements of cuttings. After preparation, it should be disinfected and sterilized to remove bacteria and insect eggs inside.

Maintenance and management methods after cutting of "Smooth Sailing"

Watering: After cuttings, water the soil thoroughly to maintain moisture and keep the soil moist. Ensure a good temperature around it. After a period of time, it will take root and sprout.

Place in a cool and ventilated place: After the cuttings are completed, place the cuttings in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance and maintain humidity. Generally, roots will grow in about a month. This is the fastest way to root cuttings smoothly.

Change the soil: After the root system grows and matures, remove the plant from the river sand and replace it with fertile and loose soil, which is more conducive to smooth growth.
