Sophora japonica growth cycle

The growth cycle of the Chinese Sophora japonica tree is generally about one year. The growth cycle of the Chinese Sophora japonica tree generally goes through seven stages, namely the budding stage, branching stage, leaf expansion stage, flowering stage, fruit ripening stage, new bud formation or differentiation stage, and leaf fall and dormancy.

Sophora japonica is relatively concentrated in northern China, but it grows from Liaoning in the north to Guangdong in the south and from Shandong in the east to Gansu and Yunnan. It can even grow in high altitude plateaus.

Sophora japonica growth rate

Sophora japonica grows rapidly and can grow to a height of 15 to 25 meters. Sophora japonica blooms in April to June, bears fruit in August to September, and begins to shed its leaves in late September. Sophora japonica blooms in July to August, bears fruit in August to October, and sheds its leaves in October.

Sophora japonica growth cycle management

Temperature management: The locust tree does not require high temperature for its growth, and it is cold-resistant and light-loving.

Fertilization management: The topdressing fertilizer is generally quick-acting fertilizer or decomposed human feces and urine. The types of quick-acting fertilizers used in the nursery are commonly urea, ferric sulfate, ammonium chloride, potassium chloride, superphosphate, etc. There are two types of topdressing for locust trees: dry application and wet application. The dry application method is to apply the fertilizer in the ditch. The depth of the ditch application should be in the distribution layer of the root system, and it should be applied around the fibrous roots, not close to the stem. For locust trees with strong root systems and deep distribution, fertilization should be deep and over a large range; for locust trees with shallow root systems, fertilization should be shallow and over a small range. The wet application method is to mix fertilizer with water to form a fertilizer solution, and apply it evenly on the nursery ground.
