Water chives every few days

Chives like a humid environment. They can be watered every 4-5 days in spring and autumn. In summer, they need to be watered every morning and evening to meet their water needs for growth. However, be careful not to allow water to accumulate, otherwise it will easily lead to root rot and seriously affect growth. If placed in a cool place, the amount of watering can be reduced.

How to water chives

Watering leeks depends on the growth stage. If it is in the seedling stage, the root system is shallow and relatively small, so do not water too much. Just keep the soil moist, otherwise it will easily grow too tall. After the plant becomes mature, the amount of water can be appropriately increased. After the beginning of winter, water should be irrigated with freezing water. If there is a lot of rain in autumn, you don't have to water it. Pay attention to drainage during the rainy season. Avoid long-term waterlogging. Water the roots to facilitate absorption.

When watering leeks, you should follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and not watering unless it is dry. It should be watered thoroughly. It is best to water leeks in the evening when the temperature is lower, or in the early morning of the next day when the lower temperature is conducive to the roots absorbing water. The water temperature needs to be consistent with the soil temperature or room temperature.

If you are at home, when watering leeks planted in flowerpots, you must not only water the roots of the leeks, but also keep a certain distance from the roots. Water should not accumulate when watering leeks. You should loosen the soil frequently to ensure the permeability of the soil. If water accumulates, it will cause suffocation of the roots.

Precautions for watering chives

After leeks germinate, they have a great demand for water and need to be watered in time, which can promote the growth of small buds inside the seeds. When the seedlings are just emerging from the soil, water them in time to keep them moist. Use a small amount of water each time and water them more often. When the seedlings grow to 12-15 cm, control the water and stun the seedlings. The incisions of the leeks will heal three days after harvesting, and you can wait until they grow out of the ground before watering them again.
