How to trim a money tree to make it look good

When is the right time to prune a money tree?

Money trees are usually pruned in spring and summer. When pruning, be sure not to damage the main stem, and you can cut more thin branches. Generally, you need to repot the money tree in spring, fertilize it appropriately, and then prune it for the best shape.

Cuttings of branches after pruning: Choose one-year-old money tree branches, cut off their petioles and stems as cuttings, insert the cuttings into the substrate at a depth of 1/3 to 1/2 of the length of the cutting. Leave only the leaves outside the substrate during cuttings, spray them with water and place them in a shaded place, spray the leaves 1-2 times a day, keep the soil in the pot moist, and roots will grow in a month.

How to prune a money tree

1. Pinching and topping

The money tree needs proper pruning at different growth stages to promote the growth of branches and leaves to be more luxuriant and greener. In the seedling stage, the main pruning is pinching, pinching off the top new buds to promote the germination and growth of the plant's side buds, so that the money tree grows more luxuriant and strong.

2. Thin out dense branches

After the money tree enters the growth period, the plant must be properly pruned, with branches that grow too densely on it, retaining the main trunk, and 3 to 5 short branches and buds on it. Remove weak and poorly growing branches on the plant to concentrate nutrients to promote the growth of healthy branches.

3. Plastic and pruning

The money tree grows fast, and during the growth process, the plant has a messy shape, which has a great impact on its ornamental value. You can trim the plant shape according to your preferences. The money tree is a plant that is relatively resistant to pruning, and proper pruning is beneficial to the growth of the plant.
