Schefflera repotting time

The Schefflera arborvitae needs to be repotted every 1-2 years, because as the plant continues to grow, the roots will absorb nutrients from the soil. In addition, watering and rain can easily cause the physical properties of the potting soil to deteriorate and lack of nutrition. A newly purchased Schefflera arborvitae does not need to be repotted, otherwise it will easily cause the death of the plant.

It is best to repot the Schefflera oleifera in spring, when the temperature is stable at around 20℃. Repotting should be avoided in winter because if the temperature is too low, it will be difficult for the plant to adapt to the new environment after repotting, which is very unfavorable for the plant's growth.

Schefflera repotting method and steps

1. Treatment before repotting

Before repotting the Schefflera oleifera, you should first take it out of the original pot, remove the old soil on the roots, properly trim and disinfect the roots, and apply rooting powder on the wounds.

2. Prepare the flower pot

The new flowerpot chosen for Schefflera arborvitae should be selected according to the size of the plant. It is best to be one size larger than the original flowerpot, so that it is conducive to the normal growth of the plant.

3. Choose soil matrix

The new potting soil prepared for Schefflera can be prepared using garden soil, nutrient soil, and peat soil. You can also add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to it. Just make sure to disinfect it before use.

4. Basin operation

Replant the treated Schefflera into new potting soil, compact the soil and water it appropriately. Be careful not to place it directly in a location with sufficient light. First place it in semi-shade for about a week to slowly grow.
