How long does it take for Milan flowers to take root?

Milan flower cutting rooting time

The best time for Milan flowers to be propagated is in spring. If it is old branches, it is suitable for propagation in April and May. If you choose woody branches grown in the same year, it is suitable for propagation in June to August.

Milan flower cuttings usually take root and sprout in about a month. The speed of rooting is related to the soil temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster the rooting. When the soil temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius, the cuttings can take root 40 days after rooting. When the temperature is between 25-28 degrees, it takes 50-60 days to take root.

Judging the rooting of Milan flower cuttings

After the Milan flower is propagated by cuttings, new buds slowly grow between the leaf stems, the branches do not wilt, and the leaves are emerald green. If they do not turn yellow, they have already taken root.

Milan flower cutting rooting method

1. Cuttings processing: Choose a well-growing Milan plant without diseases and insect pests, cut off the one-year-old woody branches from it, and the axillary buds should also be full and kept at about 10 cm in length. Keep the top 2-3 leaves and cut off the rest. The incision at the bottom should be flattened and smooth.

2. Preparation of potting soil: If you want the cuttings to take root, it is best to plant them in a loose, fertile, well-drained substrate, usually vermiculite or coarse sand. Do not use too fertile soil, otherwise it will be detrimental to the growth of new roots. The substrate can be exposed to the sun for 1-2 days before use. It should be noted that this plant cannot take root in hydroponics, and the cycle is too long.

3. Carry out cuttings: After preparing the potting soil and cuttings, you can carry out cuttings. First, use chopsticks to poke a hole in the potting soil, then insert the cuttings into the hole, and slightly compact the surrounding soil to make the bottom and the soil fit better.

Milan flower cutting management

1. Milan peanut roots can be exposed to the sun after they are established. After cuttings, they need to be placed in a semi-shaded environment. The temperature should be controlled at 25-28℃. Water should be sprayed on the leaves frequently to maintain a high air humidity.

2. Milan flowers can be fertilized after the cuttings take root. No fertilizer is needed after cuttings. The newly cut branches are not suitable for fertilization because they are relatively weak at this time. After the Milan flowers take root, organic fertilizer can be applied. This kind of fertilizer is not very strong and is not easy to cause fertilizer damage to the plant. It can promote the flowering of the plant.

3. When Milan flowers are just cut, they need to be watered thoroughly to keep the soil moist and not too dry. Spray water on the leaves frequently to maintain a high air humidity and promote its growth.
