Does celery need to be watered every day?

Do you water celery every day?

Celery does not need to be watered every day when it is not in its growth phase. In summer, it only needs to be watered every three days. If it is in its growth phase around October, it needs to be watered every day. Even if the soil is very dry, it can be watered twice a day.

It is generally better to water celery in the evening. During the day, the soil temperature can easily be too high, and pouring cold water can easily injure the roots of the plant. Celery only needs to be watered thoroughly once, and it can grow well with tap water.

The correct way to water celery

1. Newly planted celery

The roots of newly planted celery are not fully developed at this time, and it is easy to rot and wither. You can reduce the frequency and amount of watering, and water it once every five days.

2. Repot celery

When celery is repotted and transplanted, although the root system has matured, it still needs time to adapt to the new environment. Reduce the amount of watering in the first two to three days.

3. Water quality

Celery is not picky about the quality of water. It can grow well whether it is rice water, rainwater or tap water. When using tap water, it is best to dry it in advance.

4. Frequency

When planting celery, its water demand is the highest in autumn. At this time, the celery grows faster and can be watered once a day. If this is still not enough, watering it twice a day is also acceptable.

Overwatering of celery

If celery is overwatered, the first thing to do is to ventilate the plant by speeding up the air circulation rate to allow dry air to carry out excess moisture in the soil. If this cannot be solved effectively, you can also use a fan near the plant to further improve air circulation and quickly drain moisture from the soil.
