Blackberry growing conditions and climate requirements for growing areas

Blackberry Growing Conditions

Blackberry has a wide adaptability to the environment, generally rarely suffers from diseases and pests, has strong disease resistance, and is not demanding on soil. It grows well in acidic, alkaline and neutral soils and can be planted in plains, hills and mountains. Blackberry likes plenty of sunlight, so the garden should be located in a sunny place.

Blackberry Growing Climate

Blackberry has a wide adaptability to temperature and can withstand temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius in the open field. It can overwinter in the open field in areas south of Beijing in my country. At the same time, it can also withstand temperatures as high as 42 degrees Celsius. It grows well when planted in Chongqing and Nanning without being affected at all.

Blackberry growing areas

Although blackberries are not very demanding on the environment, if you want to increase your yield, you still need to choose suitable soil. It is best to choose soil that has good drainage, deep and loose soil, and is rich in organic matter. Before planting, you need to renovate the soil. The depth of the soil should not be less than 25 cm. Apply enough base fertilizer, and you can use general farmyard manure.

Blackberry was originally distributed in the northern temperate zone, especially in eastern North America and the Pacific coast, where it is widely planted. It is a common hedge plant in the British Isles and Western Europe. In my country, it is mainly distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong and other places.

Blackberry Planting Time

Blackberries are suitable for planting in the spring of each year. At this time, everything comes back to life, the temperature begins to rise, and the air humidity is relatively high, which is suitable for the growth of plants.

Benefits of Blackberry Planting

Blackberry has a short growth cycle, bears fruit very early, and has a very high yield. A small amount of fruit will be produced in the year of seedling cultivation, and the fruit-bearing rate can reach 100% in the year of planting. The yield per acre is about 250 to 600 kilograms. It enters the high-yield period in the third year, with a yield of more than 2,000 kilograms per acre.
