How to sow petunia seeds

Petunia seed sowing time

Petunia is suitable for sowing in February and March every year. The suitable germination temperature is 18-25℃, and the suitable growth temperature is 22-34℃. If you sow at this time, you can see the flowers blooming in summer.

Theoretically, after petunias are sown, they will sprout in 2 to 3 days, cotyledons will unfold in 4 to 5 days, and the first leaf will grow in about half a month. Subsequently, the branches and leaves of petunias will continue to grow, and they will bloom after about 3 months. After petunias bloom, if they are properly managed on a daily basis, the flowers will last for 1 to 2 months before withering.

Petunia seeds sowing in summer

Of course you can sow morning glory seeds in summer, and the temperature in summer is just right. Morning glory is relatively resistant to high temperatures and is not afraid of hot summer weather. The brighter the sunshine, the brighter its flowers will bloom.

How to sow petunia seeds

The seeds of petunia need to be soaked in clean water and rubbed to remove the epidermis. The soil can be prepared by mixing garden soil and peat soil, adding decomposed pig manure, and watering. After sowing, they need to be covered with soil and film. The seeds will germinate after 7 to 10 days. Then maintain them in a place with scattered light, remove the film, and wait until 3 to 4 leaves grow before maintaining them normally.

Petunia seed sowing management

1. Petunia seeds need to be processed. Select healthy and plump seeds and soak them in clean water. Scrub the epidermis to remove it and soak it for about 2 hours. Then wash it clean and prepare for sowing.

2. After sowing petunias, as long as the sowing temperature and water supply are met, under normal circumstances, the petunia seeds will germinate in 4 to 7 days and true leaves will grow in about 8 to 15 days.

3. In order to have more flowers during the petunia seedling stage, it is necessary to pinch the top of the petunia appropriately. When the seedling grows to 7 or 8 cm in length, half of the top length should be cut off. This will encourage it to grow more side branches and more flowers in the future. The soil must be kept moist during the seedling stage and a small amount of liquid fertilizer should be applied.
