Introduction to Cabbage Growth

Cabbage is suitable for planting in fertile loam, is relatively cold-resistant, and prefers to grow in cool seasons. Cabbage is originally distributed in North China and is widely cultivated throughout China.

Cabbage growth cycle

Cabbage has a very strong resistance to low temperatures and its growth period is about 55 days. The period from the germination of cabbage seeds to the growth of the first leaf is called the germination period, the period of half a month after planting is called the seedling period, and the period of 20 days after growing is called the rosette period.

Cabbage growth rate

The germination period of cabbage is 5 to 7 days, the seedling period is 16 to 20 days, the rosette period is about 15 to 20 days for early-maturing varieties and about 25 to 28 days for late-maturing varieties. The heading period is 25 to 30 days for early-maturing varieties and 25 to 50 days for mid-late-maturing varieties.

Cabbage growth cycle management

The average yield of cabbage per mu is about 6,000 to 7,000 kilograms. It is sown in mid-to-late July or August, and can be harvested and put on the market in early September to mid-October.

Temperature management : It is best to keep the temperature at 20-25 degrees during the germination period, 20-25 degrees during the seedling stage, and 17-22 degrees during the rosette stage.

Fertilization management : high-quality farmyard manure and superphosphate should be applied per acre before sowing cabbage, and fertilizer should be applied during the rosette stage.
