Cosmos can be planted in pots or in the ground. If planted in pots, the number should not be too many. If planted in the ground, it can be planted on a large scale. After four true leaves grow, pinch the top buds once to promote branching and increase the number of flowers.

Usually, a flowerpot with a diameter of 20 cm only needs 1 to 2 seedlings. The extra seedlings should be transplanted in time. Otherwise, they will be crowded together and will not grow well. The cosmos planted in the same year will bloom in the autumn of the same year. If planted in autumn, it will bloom in the summer of the following year.

1. Soil preparation

Cosmos is suitable for growing in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Since it prefers an acidic environment, you can use leaf mold as potting soil and add an appropriate amount of river sand to increase the air permeability of the soil.

2. Pruning

The first step is to pinch the branches, which is usually done in spring. Pinching can be done more than once, up to twenty times. In addition to pinching, the branches also need to be pruned and their shape properly. In addition, after it blooms, it is best to trim the branches and withered flowers.

3. Watering

Cosmos is a plant that is very afraid of waterlogging. On the contrary, it has good drought tolerance, so you only need to water it in an appropriate amount. Don't water it too much, and don't allow water to accumulate.

4. Fertilization

During the growth period, the plants need fertilizer. Generally speaking, it is once every ten days or half a month. Various types of decomposed fertilizers can be selected.

5. Lighting

Cosmos is a plant that loves light very much. If it is placed in a dark environment for a long time, its growth will be very weak and it will not be easy to bloom. Therefore, during the growth period, it is best to provide sufficient light. However, too strong light is not good either. It is best to place it in a place with scattered light.
