2. Plastic surgery

Prune the kumquat seedlings to determine the trunk size. Prune at 30 cm from the seedlings, retain 4 to 5 branches as the main branches, and cut off the rest. When the branches grow to a certain extent, you can do the second and third pruning. If they grow crooked, you can use ropes or hanging stones to adjust the shape of the kumquat tree to make it round and full.

Because kumquats bloom and bear fruit on new branches, they need to be heavily pruned before the spring shoots sprout. Each branch should be pruned, and overly long branches should be cut back to about 1/5. In particular, dense branches, drooping branches, dead branches, and diseased branches should be pruned.
