Sunflower planting time

Sunflowers can be planted in spring, summer and autumn. However, in the north and south of my country, the best time to sow sunflowers is April to May. In the south, April is generally chosen for planting, while in the north, planting starts around May.

Sunflower planting methods and key points

1. Prepare the soil

Before planting sunflowers, you need to prepare suitable soil. Although it has strong vitality, it is best to choose some fertile soil so that it will grow more vigorously in the later stage. You can also choose to mix leaf mold, garden soil and river sand. Such soil is both fertile and breathable.

2. Water appropriately

The root system of sunflowers is very developed and they are very drought-resistant. When watering, do not let the soil get too wet. Wait until the soil is dry before watering. In spring and autumn, water every 4 to 5 days, and in summer, water every 2 to 3 days. Avoid waterlogging in the soil.

3. Suitable lighting

Place the sunflower in a sunny place so that it can get enough light, so that it will grow more and more luxuriantly and the flowers will bloom more beautifully.

4. Control the temperature

The growth temperature of sunflowers is between 18 and 31 degrees Celsius, but in summer when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, it should be moved to a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. In winter, it is best to keep the temperature above 10 degrees Celsius, which is more conducive to the growth of sunflowers.

Sunflower planting precautions

Pay attention to the planting time of sunflowers. It should not be planted too early or too late. If it is planted too early, the average temperature will not be stable enough. Similarly, if it is too late, the temperature will be too high, which is not conducive to the growth of sunflower seedlings.
