How often should I water my sunflowers?

Small sunflowers should be watered once every five days in summer and once every seven days in autumn. This is because it is best to water them at night because there will be natural dew in the morning and the sunlight is relatively strong at noon, and watering them too much can easily cause the plants to wither.

However, sunflowers should not be watered too frequently. Too much watering will cause root rot. In spring and winter, watering about once a week is sufficient. It is best to use standing tap water or river water for watering.

How to water small sunflowers

1. Observe the potting soil : If it is a small sunflower planted in a pot, you should observe whether the surface of the potting soil shows signs of whitening. If the soil color is lighter than the color of the soil layer below, and it feels dry when you touch it with your hand and do not hold it tightly, you should water it in time.

2. Watering during the growing season : It is recommended to use the immersion method for watering during the growing season, that is, put the entire flower pot into a basin filled with water, let the water cover 2/3 of the flower pot, and soak it in the basin for 15 to 20 minutes, so that the soil in the pot is more thoroughly moistened.

Small sunflower watering precautions

1. Do not water too much : Watering of small sunflowers should be flexible. When the sun is strong in summer, water them in the morning and evening, while on cloudy days, you may only need to water them once. On rainy days, not only do you not water them, but you should also check the drainage conditions at the bottom of the pot. If there is water accumulation, you need to drain it out in time after the rain.

2. Watering during the flowering season : During the flowering season, replenishing water can ensure the quality of the flowers, especially when the pots are small and the flowers are large, it is necessary to replenish water in time and master the principle of "alternating dry and wet".

What to do if you water your sunflower too much?

When the small sunflower is watered too much and water accumulates in the pot, the branches and leaves will wilt. At this time, we need to move the plant out of the pot with the soil, place it in a cool and ventilated place, dissipate the moisture in the soil at the roots, and after 3-5 days, resume growth and then put it in the pot again.
