What soil is best for growing Dendrobium? How to plant it?

1. Soil quality

To cultivate Dendrobium, you need to use soil with strong air permeability. It likes a moist soil environment, but there should be no water accumulation in the soil, so the soil must also have good water permeability. The substrates that can be used include sphagnum moss, peanut shells, moss, sawdust, charcoal, wood blocks, gravel, coconut peels, pine bark, etc. No matter which substrate is used, it must be disinfected in advance to kill the harmful bacteria contained in it, otherwise the Dendrobium will easily be attacked by diseases and pests.

2. Planting Method

1. Time: You must choose the right time to plant Dendrobium. It is best to plant it in spring and autumn. The temperature is lower in winter, so it is best not to do it at this time. Make sure the temperature is above 15℃ when planting.

2. Branches: Find a relatively sturdy plant and cut a branch from it that is free of disease and insect pests. It should not be too thin and weak, but should grow strong. After cutting, place it in carbendazim or potassium permanganate and soak it for about 5 minutes. The purpose of this is to avoid infection by pests and diseases.

3. Planting: Prepare a suitable planting site. If you want to grow it in potted plants, you must prepare flower pots. After that, insert the branches into the substrate, press it with soil, spray it with some water, and wait for it to slowly grow roots.
